Darlynn collects what you give it: your persona setup, your profile answers, your conversations, and preferences. We also collect event-level product analytics — such as which features you use, purchases, and which test group (cohort) you're placed in — to understand and improve the app; this never includes your conversations, memories, or the names you've given your companion. We do not collect contacts, location, browsing history, or advertising identifiers.
Your conversations, memories, and relationship history are stored on your device. They are yours. Deleting the app deletes them.
A few things leave your device, only when you use the related feature: (1) messages you send are relayed through our server to an AI provider to generate the reply — our server does not store your conversations; (2) during a live voice call, your microphone audio streams to our AI voice provider to hold the conversation in real time — we do not record or store that audio; (3) if you use Backup & Sync, your data is copied to your own private cloud account, readable only by you; (4) app usage events go to our analytics provider, PostHog (see Analytics below); (5) if you make a purchase, your app store transaction id is sent to our payment processor to verify it before your account is credited; (6) if you submit a content report or feedback, the text you write is sent to our team to review.
Replies, images you ask for, and voice are generated by third-party AI models (such as Google Gemini). Your messages, image requests, and call audio are processed by those providers transiently to produce a response, under their API data terms. We do not sell, share, or use your conversations for advertising.
We use PostHog for product analytics: event-level data like which features you tap, purchases you make, and which test group (cohort) you're assigned to for experiments. This is usage data only — it never includes your messages, memories, or the names you've given your companion — and we do not use it to track you across other apps or websites.
Live voice calls use your device's microphone. While a call is active, your voice streams to our AI voice provider so your companion can respond in real time; we do not record or store that audio ourselves.
Delete Account (Settings → Account → Manage Account) erases everything the app stores on your device and deletes your sign-in. Content reports and feedback you've already submitted are kept, without your name or account attached, so we can keep improving safety. Backup & Sync is off until you sign in. Once you sign in, the app backs up automatically while you are signed in (shortly after you chat, and when you leave the app) to your own private cloud account, and you can run it any time from Settings → Account. Signing out or deleting your account stops it. You can delete individual memories from the Memory Vault.
Darlynn is intended for adults 18 and older and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18; if we learn that we have, we will delete it.
